No. 29. Morphine, Like Swimming. Another band that I did not like at first. Back in the 90’s, someone at work used to play Cure For Pain every morning and I just hated it! (How tiring it was to always be so reactionary and hostile about things)… Of course, soon I took a liking to it and listened to it frequently until I heard this album. Like Swimming is one of those albums that just blows me away. And I’m also blown away that it has never had a vinyl release. It’s my no. 1 of things that I think need to be released appropriately… Stand out tracks are two of my all-time favorite songs… Hanging On A Curtain, and French Fries w/ Pepper. #TenYearTop30
“On 6/6/66 I was little I didn’t know shit, by 7/7/77 eleven years later still don’t know any better, by 8/8/88 it’s way too late for me to change, by 9/9/99 I hope I’m sitting on my back porch drinking red wine…” Sadly, Mr. Sandman died in July of 99, never making it to his ultimate date. This was their last album completed before he died.
